You’re seeing red. And although “seeing red” is understood as “getting angry”, there isn’t a trace of temper!
Au contraire, a sense of calmness - augmented furiously by wafts of camphor – refresh your being even as you spot Ms. Leena R. Haldar looking rather fetching in a red ensemble.
Within the plush setting of ‘The Healing Rooms,’ her office in suburban Mumbai, the life-coach, wellness-enhancer, triumphant cancer-winner, and more, spotlights issues surrounding the pandemic - now threatening to erupt in its third wave, as per experts. Furthermore, she outlines bright options to resolve challenges stemming from the effects of the viral invasion.
With expertise of over a decade spanning 150-plus seminars and workshops, Leena - a feisty Cancerian in her forties – has helped heal the lives of students and clients totalling over a thousand, and counting.
Presenting, succinct excerpts from the conversation…

Magic with medicos
“I do have psychiatrists, psychologists and doctors refer their patients to me for sessions to heal them emotionally, while continuing treatment with them. We see swifter reductions in medication. The pandemic-centric issues are mainly stress-related issues like anxiety, fear, panic, anger issues due to matters not going as planned, justified and unjustified fear, depression, feeling suicidal, sleeplessness, rise in blood sugar, blood pressure and cardiac issues.”

Escalating escapism
“Most people have anxiety over uncertainties arising from the pandemic and repeated lockdowns. There definitely is an increase in addictions such as alcohol, smoking, drugs and substance abuse along with other addictive habits that are considered socially acceptable, like binge watching television, being on the phone continuously, shopping out of boredom, emotional eating etc.”

A homely office?
“Although it convenient and advantageous, the Work From Home’ option
has its disadvantages too. Constantly being with your own family members or room- mates also creates a fertile environment for disagreements. Tolerance levels are generally low because of the circumstances and delays.”

Students in a tizzy!
“I have counselled students who are stuck in different countries far away from home. The uncertainty of when they can return or being stuck in a hostel room all alone has negatively impacted them. Also, children who panic to give online exams or find classes boring or are too distracted have approached me.”

Grab that DOSE
Owing to stress, we often lose touch with the very things that light us up. As a result, the happy hormones or DOSE hormones (namely dopamine, oxytocin, serotonin, endorphins)  get depleted in the system. I’ll mention a few tips to boost them…
Dopamine (the reward hormone)
– complete a task, do a self-care activity, eat well, celebrate little wins.
Oxytocin (the love hormone)
– Play with an animal or a baby, give compliments, indulge in physical human contact like holding hands, hugging, kissing, cuddling, etc.
Serotonin (the mood stabiliser) -
Meditate, walk in nature, run, cycle, swim,  get some sun exposure.
Endorphins (the pain killer) –
laugh, use essential oils, eat dark chocolate, exercise.”

Healing  with  Haldar

“The core of the work I do is emotional wellness. I offer workshops, Bach Flower Remedies and one-on-one sessions (multi-modality) to help individuals come back to a space of being calm and centred. I use affirmations, Louise Hay’s philosophy, NLP (Neuro-linguistic programming), EFT (Emotional freedom techniques), Magnified Healing, essential oils and other modalities that I am trained under.”
