FII Delegation meets Niti Aayog, Senior Advisor
July 16, 2021
A delegation of Federation of Indian Industry led by Mr. Deepak Jain, Director General, met the Senior Advisor (Agriculture), Niti Aayog.
The brief meeting started with the warm exchange of greetings followed by introduction of the FII delegation with Dr. Patel. Speaking on the gaps that exists between Agriculture and Industry, Mr. Jain asserted that agriculture in the present scenario is in dire need to see the global market not as a farm produce but as an Industrial product.
For this, MSMEs can come forward to take the produce and perform value addition and cast into the Food Processing Industry. He mentioned that while the MSMEs are the backbone of the economy, there is a requirement of new products into the area and the same can be complemented only by the Agriculture. Diversifying the agriculture while looking into the consumer pattern to understand the needs of the consumer can bridge the gap between the two sectors. It will also make a paradigm shift that can largely provide an economic boost in the post-covid scenario.
Dr. Neelam Patelshared the government policy initiatives and agreed that this domain needs more deliberations. Dr. Shailendra Vyas, Chairperson Start-up and Skill Development and Ms. Mamta Jain, CEO Agriculture Today were also present during the meeting.
